We’re Blue River, a team of innovators driven to radically change agriculture by creating intelligent machinery. We empower our customers – farmers - to implement more sustainable solutions: optimize chemical usage, reimagining routine processes, and improving farming yields year after year. We believe that focusing on the small stuff – pixel-by-pixel and plant-by-plant - leads to big gains. By partnering with John Deere, we are innovating computer vision, machine learning, robotics and product management to solve monumental challenges for our customers.
Our people are at the heart of what we do. Through cross-discipline collaboration, this mission-driven and daring team is eager to define the new frontier of agricultural robotics. We are always asking hard questions, rapidly iterating, and getting our boots in the field to figure it out. We won’t give up until we’ve made a tangible and positive impact on agriculture.
As a Software QA Engineer you will work with your teammates to deliver the first See & Spray product to market. The schedule is aggressive and the agricultural season waits for nothing and nobody (except rain). The system needs to meet the high performance and reliability standards that our customers expect and rely on. We tackle our objectives with cross functional engineering teams consisting of systems and embedded software, test and QA, mechatronics, computer vision and machine learning engineers. These teams are empowered to figure out how to meet the challenges, plan and prioritize work - managers don’t have all the answers.
As a Software QA Engineer you will help create and maintain automated tests to ensure that the many software and hardware components of our complex, distributed system work together reliably. Ultimately we need to test our product by driving the machine through the field. But we prefer to catch any problems on our test benches. This is where you come in: You work closely with a development team to learn about new features and how they can be tested. You implement the tests as part of our system test framework. You execute them on our test beds and test machines in the field. You work with developers, DevOps, and field engineers as needed.
- Create and maintain test framework software.
- Proactively build out test hardware as needed to expand test coverage.
- Work closely with developers to identify what tests are needed next.
- Test on the real machine in collaboration with our field team.
- Track tests and test results in our test management system
- Expertise in automated testing of complex distributed robotics systems
- QA experience
- Strong Python skills to maintain and extend unit test framework
- Experience with CI systems such as Jenkins
- Comfortable with C++
- CAN preferred
