Blue River Technology serves the agricultural industry by designing and building advanced farm machines that utilize computer vision and machine learning to enable farmers to understand and manage every plant. These machines help farmers to improve profitability, protect the environment by reducing pesticide use, and capture valuable plant-by-plant data. Blue River is a pioneer in the agricultural robotics space and has developed the See & Spray precision sprayer, which applies pesticide only where needed, and can reduce pesticide use by 90%. John Deere & Company, with over 180 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, and distributing innovative products to farmers, acquired Blue River Technology in the fall of 2017 as an independently-run subsidiary. In partnership with John Deere, Blue River has expanded rapidly, and together both companies see many opportunities to apply advanced computer vision, machine learning, and robotics technologies to other areas in agriculture beyond spraying.

Position Description Blue River is seeking a Sr. Finance Analyst who will be the principal financial business partner to program leaders, providing key financial insight and managing the forecast and budget processes for the company. As the first analyst for the company, you will have an excellent opportunity to partner with senior leaders throughout all aspects of financial planning and analysis and be a key contributor to various projects and initiatives. 


Role Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes 
  • Provide monthly and ad hoc financial reporting to budget managers, executive management, and Deere counterparts 
  • Drive process improvements and automation as the company grows 
  • Perform various decision-support analyses in support of the company‚Äôs changing priorities and initiatives 
  • Conduct monthly reviews of financial statements with the Lead Accountant, including balance sheet reconciliations, account categorization, and accruals 
  • Understand standard accounting principles and policy and interact with global accounting and financial partners to maintain proper financial processes, procedures, and controls. 


Required Professional Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Finance, Accounting, or similar preferred 
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in similar roles 
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to interact and partner professionally with all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple incoming requests, multi-task, and manage time effectively 
  • Innovative thinker and problem solver with the ability to execute plans 
  • Highly proficient with Excel, Powerpoint 
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar software 
  • Organized and detail-oriented 
  • Exercises good judgment; able to handle sensitive information with discretion
