We’re seeking a Tech Lead Manager to join our Data and CVML Platform Team. This team is a dynamic team consisting of Software and ML engineers, Data Scientists, Product Managers and Agronomy experts. We collaborate with all program teams at Blue River, and deliver a Data and CVML platform-as-a-service to our internal customers in order to help accelerate the CVML application development life cycle. The Data and CVML Platform serves as the backbone for our Automation and Autonomy based products. The Tech Lead Managers mission is to help define technical vision and strategy, facilitate technical planning and set technical direction for Blue River’s foundational Data and CVML platform-as-a-service capabilities to support and further Blue River’s long-term strategy.

In This Leadership Role you will;

  • Lead a team of multi-disciplinary software engineers that design, develop, maintain and improve for our foundational Data and CVML platform-as-a-service offerings.
  • Act as a sounding board and technical architect for tech leads, help define technical vision and strategy, facilitate technical planning and set technical direction for our foundational Data and CVML platform-as-a-service offerings
  • Guide all technical aspects of development, including technical requirement definition, maintenance of backlog, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration for our foundational Data and CVML platform-as-a-service offerings
  • Work with our users to understand their needs and address their problems while at the same time collaborate with PMs and Designers to develop and implement the roadmap for our foundational Data and CVML platform-as-a-service offerings
  • Work closely with engineering partners and collaborators to drive organizational alignment and adoption of Data and CVML platform-as-a-service offerings
  • Develop and mentor engineering and leadership talent
  • Inspire and motivate the team to work together as a cohesive and productive unit

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a team and setting technical direction in the past
  • Experience building and architecting large-scale, production quality systems, especially in applied machine learning
  • Strong hands-on technical skills and ability to contribute to coding and architecture
  • Track record of regularly anticipating technical issues and making architectural and design decisions to avoid them.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and development methodologies
  • Passionate about Data and CVML platform-as-a-service offerings and technology and its purposeful application to real world use cases
  • A sense of urgency, bias towards action and a consistent record of getting things done, managing projects across multiple teams and excellent prioritization skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively across highly technical, multi-functional teams.
  • Passion for building and leading diverse and inclusive engineering teams
  • Experience in leading through influence and managing, mentoring, and coaching senior engineers
  • BS, MS or PhD in CS, Math, or equivalent real-world experience
  • 3+ years as Tech Lead or Engineering Manager

Technical Experience In one or more of the following:

  • Deep technical knowledge and experience with Data and CVML platform-as-a-service offerings is a plus
  • Experience and knowledge of commercial cloud platforms and relevant open source technologies
  • Experience with platform-as-a-service offerings to support diverse set of foundational capabilities including data ingestion, data governance, quality, privacy, lineage, transformation, annotation/metadata, exploration to model training, deployment and monitoring.
  • Experience from working on product teams (interfacing with product managers, collaborating with product designers, etc)
  • Experience with Relational, NoSQL and cloud databases
  • Experience with Data Annotation and Data Labeling processes, pipelines and tools
  • Experience with DataOps and related set of practices, processes and methodologies.
  • Experience with ModelOps and related set of practices, processes and methodologies.
  • Scalable ML data and CVML platform (dataset management, validation, feature engineering, versioning etc.)
  • CVML tools and frameworks (TensorFlow, Pytorch etc.)
